First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Metropolitan Transportation Commission.
Intern
First, an HR panel interview. It's a general behavioral interview where they ask what you know about MTC. You'll also talk about the writing portion of the application. Second, a supervisor interview. They'll give an overview of MTC projects and ask questions about your experiences.
- What do you know about MTC?
Analyst
The interview process involved two rounds of Zoom interviews across two consecutive weeks. Two days after the final Zoom interview, the final offer was extended.
- What attracts you to MTC, and how do your background and experience align with the requirements of this role?
- Can you explain how your education and professional history prepare you for this specific position at MTC?
Deputy Director
After the applications were closed, I got a link to book an interview slot for a specific date. It was a pretty brief and straightforward interview, with maybe only 6 questions that weren't very in-depth.
- Can you tell me about your leadership style?
- How would you describe your approach to leading a team?
- What are your thoughts on leadership?
Executive Assistant
I went through a couple of weird interviews for an EA job where I would have supported two execs. The virtual and in-person interviews felt awkward; one of them even messed up my name during the in-person meeting. They expected a crazy amount of work for the offered pay. I didn't hear back after the in-person interview, which was fine, but getting no response at all, not even a generic rejection email, says a lot about the company and its staff. It's unprofessional and a waste of everyone's time to call someone in for an interview, especially to a busy part of SF, if you're not interested in hiring them.
- Tell me about your familiarity with the MTC.
