First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Metrohm USA.
Field Service Technician
Had a few interviews over the phone and video. Started with a phone screening, then two video calls. It took up a lot of time. The interviews themselves were pretty relaxed. They really tried to make sure it was a good fit. They said there would be a fourth interview, but then they went quiet for months before sending a rejection. I took a lot of time off work for this and I'm not happy about the lack of communication about what actually happened. Management was changing around that time and I suspect they might have just restarted the hiring process after I'd already invested so much time and effort. My follow-up emails asking what happened got no response. I even got an email for a phone screen from a new person and asked if it was a follow-up, but still no response. Feels like they owe me an apology, though maybe I avoided a bad situation.
- What do you know about the company Metrohm?
Applications Chemist
We had a phone interview first, and then an on-site interview which was a full day. The on-site included a presentation in front of a group of people and then one-on-one interviews with the key people. The presentation was 30 minutes long and they asked a lot of good questions. Everyone was professional.
- Can you tell me about your past experience dealing with customer problems?
Engineer
After submitting my resume, I quickly received a call from some HR and management personnel. This was followed by another call a week later from the department manager. A couple of weeks after that, they set up an in-person interview at a hotel with the department manager, a regional manager, and a sales manager. I got some good vibes that they thought I was a strong candidate, but then they never got back to me. I was already in talks for a different role, so I didn't follow up, but it would have been polite to at least get an email saying I didn't get the job.
- Did you find the interview setup intimidating?
- How did you feel about being put on the spot in the interview, given your occupation?
Field Service
I had a few phone calls with HR, the hiring manager, and some people who are in the role already. They really wanted to get a feel for what motivates me and if I'd fit in with the team. It was great to talk to people at different levels to get a better idea of the company and the job. Most of the interviews were over the phone, but I did have one in-person meeting with the hiring manager.
