First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Metro City Bank.
IT Specialist
The HR Manager reached out by email about my application and set up an in-person interview. The interview had two parts. First, I met with the HR Manager who went over the job and benefits. Then, I had an interview with a panel of two people. They asked questions about my resume, technical skills, personality, and what I expected. The questions were easy to understand, even with a language barrier. The company stressed they want someone for the long haul, mentioning they've had trouble keeping people in this job, which made me wonder about the salary they offered. I asked about growth opportunities in the department, but the answer was pretty standard, just repeating the job description. After I sent a follow-up email, they let me know they weren't moving forward. They responded fast, which was great because many companies just ghost you these days. Overall, it was a decent experience, even without an offer.
- Can you tell me about your strengths and weaknesses?
Bank Teller
It started with a phone call where they asked why I wanted the job, and then I had an on-sight interview where they asked about my past experiences and how I'd do on the job.
- What is your motivation for seeking this position?
Teller
I applied for the Head Teller position and after six months, I had a phone interview. Then, I was invited for an in-branch interview. The manager seemed to have forgotten about our scheduled interview and made me wait for 10 minutes. During the interview, it was repeatedly implied that they were looking to hire Asians for an Asian bank to foster an Asian community. Even though I was perfectly qualified with both experience and education, I never received a response to my follow-up emails or calls after the interview. I assume I was not selected for the role.
- Would you be comfortable working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, such as Korean and Chinese people?
Financial Analyst
I applied and they reached out about three weeks later for a quick screening call over the phone. It was a very quick 20 min conversation asking about my background and why I was interested in Metro City Bank. I didn't move on from there.
- What makes you the best candidate?
- What unique skills do you offer?
