Meta General Intern Interview Questions
& Process

The interview process was organized and moved pretty quickly overall. After I submitted my application online, a recruiter reached out to me for an initial screening. The recruiter gave an overview of the internship program, explained the team structure, and asked a few questions about my background, interests, and availability. It was mostly a conversational chat and focused on confirming my eligibility and motivation.

Met with HR two times, then I had to submit a writing sample. After that I met with the hiring manager, then did two interview loops (each one was a half day over Zoom). Finally, I met with the executive this role would be supporting. Then I didn’t hear anything for weeks even though I followed up. Eventually they told me I didn’t get the role, and a week or two later there were mass layoffs. Because of that, I’m not sure if they ever actually filled the position.

Recruiter screening happened over email. There was a 1 hour screening round that was half product sense and half SQL. The interviewer was unfortunately really stoic and cold and I feel if I had a different interviewer the process would've been a lot better. It seemed they did not know what product sense question they wanted to ask and instead of writing down the prompt through a shared document so I could refer back to and write my own notes underneath, they just verbally spoke it which was hard to follow. I got the right solution to the SQL question, which the interviewer admitted but added on that it was not how they would've done it, which I found unhelpful and stressful.
