First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Mersive.
Technical Escalation Engineer
The interview process was clear and easy to understand. Everyone was friendly, honest, and professional, the kind of people I'd like to work with. They kept everyone updated on what was happening next. They were patient, respectful, and adaptable while still being firm.
- Technical questions were asked, with a focus on TCP/IP and related technologies.
Content Marketing Copywriter
Mersive reached out to me to schedule a phone interview with the HR director, followed by a phone interview with the Content Marketing Director a week later. After both went well, I was asked to submit 3 writing samples of previous work, and a completed writing prompt (basically an entire blog post). Following my sample submissions, the HR director quickly reached out and asked about my availability for an in-person interview. I provided my availability and sent a follow-up email 2 weeks later, when I was told "the team has been traveling a bit due to it being summer so I have been trying to work with them on their schedules" and that they would get back to me soon. I never heard from them again.
- Can you describe your writing style?
- What specifically about this job description caught your eye?
- What is your background knowledge of Mersive?
Software Engineer
So the interview process kicked off with a recruiter phone call, then a technical phone screen. After that, I had a take-home project to complete on my own time. This was followed by a 4-hour in-person technical interview and then a meeting with the CEO and CTO. They really dug into my resume, asking about everything, even stuff not directly related to the job. They also asked technical questions that went way beyond the job scope, just to see how much I knew. They threw in some critical thinking questions too, to see how I'd think out loud. They spent a ton of time making sure I actually knew what I said I knew and could solve problems. I could, so they liked me, but honestly, I didn't vibe with them much by then. Nobody tried to get to know me personally, so I didn't feel any connection with anyone except the CEO, which was a bummer because the people are what make a job for me. Also, there's absolutely no remote work option, so having to commute downtown every single day to hang with people I didn't connect with didn't sound appealing. To top it off, the offer was pretty low, so I didn't even bother trying to negotiate because I didn't want to waste anyone's time.
- Can you tell me about everything on your resume, regardless of its relevance to this role?
- Please explain technical concepts that are far beyond the scope of this job to assess the extent of your knowledge.
- Can you solve these critical thinking problems and articulate your thought process out loud?
Sales Engineer
So there were a couple of quick phone screens that were pretty professional and friendly, which made me feel comfortable asking my questions to the managers I spoke with. They were honest and answered everything easily, which was refreshing. Then, I had an in-person interview where they flew me out and put me up in a nice hotel. I met with all the management, including the founder and CEO for an hour each, and those meetings were really pleasant.
- Can you tell me about your experience and knowledge in the AV industry?
- How comfortable are you with end user support and deployment tasks?
