Marketing Analyst
I applied for the Sr. Marketing analyst role online. Within a week, I had a quick 10-min recruiter call to go over the job. Right after that, I had three 30-45 min phone interviews over consecutive days. They asked about my education and skills. Then, I flew out to Baltimore for a full day of interviews. I arrived the day before and stayed overnight. The interview day was packed: 6 hours straight with 6 one-on-one meetings and a 30-min presentation of a past project. Lunch was with one of the interviewers. They had emailed the schedule and presentation guidelines beforehand. Three of the interviewers from the phone calls were in these meetings. They asked different questions about my resume, basic stats, logistic regression, SQL, SAS, and eigen values. A common question was about targeting customers for direct mail marketing using logistic regression. Another was about merging and de-duplicating SAS datasets. Later, I had to explain p-value simply. All interviewers also asked about my past projects. The interview day ended with my 30-minute project presentation, with 15 minutes for Q&A, though they asked questions during my presentation. They gave me my full presentation time by shortening the Q&A. After the interview, I followed up for a month. I was initially considered, but eventually, they told me I wasn't selected. The whole process was tough but professional. They really assess relevant skills from your resume. You need to prepare thoroughly; it's not easy!
- Can you explain what a P-Value is in the context of a marketing campaign, as if you were presenting it to a client?
Marketing Analyst
I applied for the job through my university's career site. About a week later, I got a call for a phone interview with a senior analyst. It was pretty laid-back; we mostly just talked about my resume. Then, the following week, I had a second phone interview with a director. We started by discussing my background, and then they gave me a case study to work through. I think I messed up the case study, so I didn't get a chance to do an on-site interview.
- What's your strategy for optimizing a retailer's catalog campaign?
Marketing Analyst
The recruitment process was really smooth, clear, pleasant, and useful overall. It started with 3 interviews. The first was a phone call with HR. Then, a second interview via Skype with the hiring managers. The third interview lasted about 4 hours and was on-site with a group of applicants. There was also a small logical test. They gave us the opportunity to get to know the company better and the people there are really nice.
- Can you describe your understanding of marketing?
- How would you describe your personality in a work environment?
