First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Merkle.
Manager
I was contacted by a recruiter. It took many weeks for interviews, and they rescheduled and canceled several times. The interviews felt rushed and disorganized. During the panel interview, half of the panel were remote and seemed to be doing other things. They had me do a presentation, but I only had 5 minutes for it because they asked so many questions, and the panel lead didn't know how to use the laptop. The questions and feedback indicated the panel didn't understand the work involved in the position. The questions were generic and not original. Overall, it was a disappointing experience.
- Could you describe your greatest strength?
- Could you describe your greatest weakness?
Manager
I found the job on Merkle's site in late Dec and they emailed me to set up a phone screen in Jan. The supervisor for the role did the phone screen, and it went well. She said HR would email me to set up the next interview. She also told me about a presentation needed later on. HR then emailed about setting up the actual interview, which they scheduled for late Feb because of month-end close and the audit. I then met with two people who would report to me, a peer, and the Director (who was the supervisor). I was supposed to meet the VP/Controller too, but she was traveling. Each meeting was supposed to be 30 minutes, but since the VP wasn't there, we went over, though I still felt rushed. Everyone seemed really into Merkle. The Director interviewed me over lunch, and then I did my presentation. HR emailed that day to schedule another interview with the VP for the next week, again over lunch. After that, the Director met with me again so I could ask more questions. The Director said she'd call me back that day or the next. She called the next day with a job offer, and I took it. The whole process was really organized and they decided fast.
- Tell me about yourself and what value you bring.
- Explain your understanding of the position and your responsibilities.
- What makes you the right candidate for this role?
Senior Manager
I went through a few phone screens, then a full day of interviews where I also had to present. They said I impressed them and they wanted to move forward, expecting to contact me in 2-4 weeks. They even said I'd be an excellent fit. But then, they just went silent. After the four weeks passed, I tried reaching out by phone and email because they seemed so interested. They completely ignored me after that. While companies can change their minds, it's super weird to just disappear when they show so much interest. It would've been polite to at least let me know if things changed. I found the whole thing really unprofessional. I wouldn't recommend working there. If this is how they treat people before you even start, it's not a good sign.
