First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Mercyhurst University.
Office Manager
I was hired part-time initially, then transitioned to full-time. Before my part-time role, I was a student. It was evident they needed someone to fill a position during an organizational shift. However, they didn't acknowledge my education from the same institution and offered limited opportunities for advancement, salary increases, or contract extensions.
No confirmed questions were included in this interview report.
Assistant Director
I met with the Director and Vice President for the area. They asked me questions that were specific to the role, and also asked about my interest in Mercyhurst over any other school. It felt like they were more focused on my personality than any specific skills or traits. The overall vibe was very friendly, and they did a good job of explaining the position and what they were looking for in a candidate.
- Can you discuss your experience in this field?
- What makes you choose Mercyhurst?
Residence Hall Director
This interview process focused on knowledge of residence life, diversity, and how to address significant residential conflicts. It was somewhat laid back, but there were around 15 questions. Come prepared by understanding what a hall director does, how they handle incidents, their relationship to the RA staff, and how they impact the interests of the campus
- How would you handle a situation involving your peers?
- How does a hall director address bias based incidents?
Instructional Designer
The interview process had two rounds. The first was with the entire search committee. Each member had some standard questions and there was time to ask questions of the committee. The second was shorter one-on-one interviews with the committee members and an interview with the Provost.
