First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Mercy Housing.
Property Manager
The hiring manager will call you for a phone interview, and then schedule a one-hour panel interview. The questions were pretty straightforward, covering recertifications, stress management, and leadership.
- Could you explain the intake form process?
- What are your strategies for managing stress?
- Describe how you approach property budgeting.
Resident Services Manager
The interview process was great. They asked great questions, and I was able to ask my questions and get great answers. The interviewer took the time to get to know me. I felt very confident after the interview.
- How would you handle scenario situations, which happen to all be actual scenarios that had happened before.
Senior HR Business Partner
The process started with a recruiter screen, then a manager interview, followed by a panel interview. There was a significant communication gap for several weeks. After that, the recruiter followed up, references were checked, and the hiring manager followed up to extend a verbal offer. Then, there was coordination with recruiting about the offer details. Unfortunately, the offer was rescinded with no explanation, and the hiring manager avoided communication and didn't acknowledge the offer they had extended. It was a bumpy process. The recruiting team was great, but the overall experience was bad, especially for an HR professional.
- Were you asked about your willingness to travel?
- Did you discuss your experience with process development?
- Were you asked about your performance management experience?
Case Manager
I had two informal interviews with Mercy Housing for this Case Manager role. Apparently, the first person they hired didn't work out, and I was the runner-up. They seemed to be looking for a very specific skill set but wouldn't really say what it was. A big part of the job was handling 200 documented client interactions each month, and they were really focused on how I'd manage that quota. They also asked me to share an example of a tough client situation I'd dealt with before.
- What would you do if a client started having sexual fantasies about you?
