The interview process was quite smooth. Communication was good at each step, and the interviewers were knowledgeable and clear about what they were looking for. It felt more like a chat than a formal interview.

It took about 3 weeks to hear back after I applied, which felt like a long time. I thought they weren't interested, but then they contacted me asking for my availability for an interview within the next few business days. I responded right away, but it took them 3 business days to get back to me. They scheduled a Zoom interview for an hour after sending the invite, which was actually outside of the times I had given them. Since I was in the middle of my workday at my current job and couldn't just stop everything to get ready for a Zoom call on short notice, and I was already annoyed with Merchant's even before talking to anyone, I decided to cancel the interview and pull my application.

I was first contacted by a recruiter for an initial phone call, which went well. She then scheduled me for a face-to-face interview. It seemed a bit odd that the earliest dates offered were two weeks out, and when I asked about it, she mentioned they were very busy with hiring. It turned out she booked me for the wrong day, calling me a week early to say I missed it. We rescheduled for the following week. This next interaction was very unpleasant; she was quite rude. Despite me driving five hours and staying overnight the night before, with no offer of hotel or expense assistance, she seemed to forget who I was upon my arrival. She then asked if the hotel they booked for me was acceptable, which was confusing since they hadn't booked one. After speaking with the operations manager, who seemed impressed and ready to hire me, the recruiter interrupted him, spoke with him privately, and then left without a word to me. She also failed to mention that the original position was no longer available and that I was being offered a different role I wasn't interested in, despite me confirming the original position was still open on the phone. This was by far the worst interview experience I've ever had, and she was the rudest person I've encountered.

The process began with a phone screen by HR, then a phone interview with the hiring manager. We had to do it over the phone because of the location difference (NH and Chicago). Lastly, they had me complete a DISC assessment, which the company paid for. It was pretty straightforward, the only tricky part was coordinating the times with Chicago.
