Recruiter reached out about an opening I was looking for. Started with a 30 min recruiter screen. Then had a 1 hour chat with a director. After that, a 2 hour video interview over two days with a Dev manager and other product owners. Then a 1 hour in-person interview with another product owner, plus 2 hours of driving and interview time. They did a follow-up interview with another HR manager to double-check some skills. They mentioned next steps, but I didn't hear back for weeks. Finally, I spoke to the recruiter who said they were still figuring out how to proceed. It's been another 2 weeks with no word. It's been 6 weeks total and I don't think I'd take the job now due to the poor communication.

I interviewed with the Director, and it wasn't a very respectful interview. He was very late, kinda rude, and didn't really like to show his face on the Zoom call. Why do a Zoom video interview if you're not going to show yourself? You represent the company as a Director. Personally for me, he had a very heavy accent which was hard to follow. Questions were as expected: generic questions about programming languages, experiences, and behavioral questions. The company culture is not what I would look forward to joining, and when I brought it up, the interviewer just quickly breezed through the question. So I sensed there was a lack of diversity, mentorship, collaboration, trust, and transparency. I wasn't very comfortable at all through the interview process and I just ended the interview process altogether. The recruiter seems nice, respectable, and was easy to get a response back.

The interview process was great! They had relevant leaders involved to make sure they hired the right people, and it had an inspiring, positive vibe. It was a motivating experience! There were 3 levels of interviews, plus the HR team. Collaboration seemed to be the main thing they focused on to ensure they brought in the right candidate with the right attitude.

So I first spoke with HR on the phone, then the hiring manager called me. After that, two team members I'd be working with interviewed me over the phone. The final step was an on-site interview with three of the team members. They kept me in the loop the whole time. I didn't end up taking the job, but the team seemed really great and the interview process was a good experience.
