I had an online Zoom interview with five professors. It lasted about 30 minutes. The questions were quite difficult, focusing on how I could assist students with their career planning, study abroad opportunities, and research experiences.

I had a Zoom interview first, then about two months later, I had an in-person interview with two Mercer employees and three board members. The interview was really laid back, with standard questions and a few curveballs. I got the job offer, but it was surprisingly low, about 15k under the average. When I tried to negotiate, they rescinded the offer and stopped communicating, which was shocking and unprofessional. Very disappointing.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

Got an email for an in-person or Skype interview. It was canceled and rescheduled. Had an interview panel with the director and three team members. They were nice and seemed genuinely interested. The questions were specific to the job and focused on student counseling and admissions, which wasn't in the job description but program/project management was. They asked about my career goals and teaching classes, which also wasn't mentioned in the job ad. I explained my career goals and they suggested I look into teaching with their program. They said a decision would be made in a few weeks, which felt odd since they seemed rushed to fill the position and schedule me. The timeline for interviews was very rigid. Got a rejection email a few weeks later, thanking me and suggesting I consider faculty positions.

  • Could you outline your long-term career aspirations?
