Had a chat with the HR Manager. It felt unprofessional and belittling, I felt judged negatively for some answers I gave. According to the HR, I wasn't sincere because I didn't mention salary as one of the reasons I was interested in the job (paid internship of 600€). They focused on a job I did years ago that has nothing to do with the position I applied for. Also, they suggested I shouldn't aim for career progression because many people stay at the same professional level as this office has few employees. Awful.

It was a pretty standard process, about 2 hours long. They wanted to check my understanding of diseases, specifically diabetes, and how I'd approach account planning with a 90-day plan. They also tested my knowledge of the NHS and how market access works in my specific area, and generally my local knowledge of the territory.

It started with an unscheduled recruiter call in late September. Then silence until late October, when I had a Teams interview with both the manager and HR, one hour each, back-to-back. A few days later, I was asked to come to the office for four more interviews, each half an hour long, with different department heads. We never discussed salary, contract, or working hours; the focus was always on me, my intentions, and what the company is looking for. This feels very Italian; some multinationals have faster processes and are upfront about compensation, but Menarini always says there will be an appropriate time to discuss it.

I was contacted directly by the company. I had interviews with managers and HR (3 rounds) in person. Recruitment process was rather classic and communication was easy. The connection wasn't really there with my future manager, who seemed to not fully grasp the ins and outs of the job (couldn't answer me on performance indicators for department activities). To her credit, it wasn't her core business, but the interview was clearly not prepared beforehand. I was then promised a quick follow-up, only to be led on for 2 weeks. I followed up 3 times and was eventually ghosted. To this day, I still haven't heard back. Having made the effort to travel twice, I find this attitude unprofessional and it tarnishes the image I had of this lab which aims to be family-like.
