Memebox Corporation Interview Questions
& Process

There were 3 recruiters and 1 applicant for what was supposed to be a team interview. The interview was conducted in Korean, even though the application was in English. It lasted about an hour.

The interview process was really bad. I wish I had checked their Glassdoor reviews first. I'm a long-time customer of Memebox and was really excited to potentially work for them. Now, I'm just glad it didn't work out because I totally dodged a bullet! The CEO messaged me on Linkedin for my portfolio link, which was already on my resume. I sent it over. Then, he emailed me on a Saturday with an assignment due Tuesday morning. It's very unprofessional to send a time-consuming project on a Saturday. I wouldn't have minded as much if he had sent it earlier in the week so I could adjust my schedule. Plus, many people don't check work emails over the weekend. If I hadn't seen it, I would've had to take Monday off to complete it on time. That was the first big red flag. I submitted the assignment, and then heard nothing back for a whole month! That was the second red flag. After a month, the CEO emailed saying they chose another candidate. He mentioned he enjoyed our conversation and learning about my background and goals, which is the third red flag because he never actually spoke to me! This company clearly has no respect for people. I'm so glad it didn't work out, it seems like a toxic place.

I had an intro call scheduled with a recruiter, but she didn't call at the agreed time. I emailed her, and she said she was sick and WFH. She eventually called about an hour late, and I felt bad hearing her cough a lot. A couple days later, I got an email on Friday at 5pm asking me to do a written assignment and reply within 24 hours. Even though it was short notice before the weekend, I did it. I got a rejection email a few days later saying they weren't moving forward. It felt really disorganized, and the recruiter being sick was unfortunate. I also took unpaid time off for that call. It would have been more professional if someone had just let me know they canceled. Feels like I dodged a bullet.

Applied Online, had a 30 min phone interview, and then was invited to meet the team for a 2 hour one on one. The hiring manager was very flexible with challenge questions, no right or wrong answers. It was a casual, relaxed setting. Questions were more personality based than typical interview questions.
