First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at MEMC Electronic Materials.
Process Engineer
The interview was done virtually. The first stage was with the lead, and the questions were mostly about my experiences. The second stage was with the GM and was more relaxed. No difficult questions were asked. The GM was mainly interested in why I was looking for a new job.
- Can you tell me about your current process?
- What is your reason for seeking new employment?
- What are your salary expectations?
Treasury Manager
I had a phone interview with the CFO. They asked me about my Treasury knowledge and threw in some technical finance questions, plus some tell me about your experience with X, Y, X questions. Not sure what else is expected here.
- Can you describe your investment philosophy and how you approach it?
- What do you know about Treasury?
- Tell me about your experience with X, Y, and X.
Research and Development Engineer
MEMC reached out to me on LinkedIn. After I sent my resume, we had a few email and phone exchanges. Then, I had a phone interview and was invited to their headquarters for an on-site interview. The on-site interview was rescheduled once. It involved a 1-hour presentation on a topic I chose, followed by 6 more 1:1 interviews. The interviews were pretty informal, and it felt like the interviewers weren't totally sure what they were looking for. The main questions were about my willingness to travel a lot. I don't think they were super interested after the interview.
- What frustrates you?
Technician
They wanted to talk about my experience in semiconductor manufacturing. We discussed my role in watching reactor processes, fixing equipment problems, and keeping quality control for silicon wafer production. I talked about how I get hands-on to make sure things are efficient, work with different teams, and make processes better to meet standards.
- Do you know how to use Excel?
