First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Meineke.
Sales Director
The interview process for the Sales Director role includes several stages. It starts with a recruiter call, followed by a phone screen. Then, there's an onsite interview, which also includes a presentation. The process focuses on strategy and planning, leadership and team management, customer management and relationships, experience and achievements, market understanding and innovation, and personal competencies. For strategy, questions cover developing sales strategies for new products/regions, identifying market opportunities, crucial KPIs for sales team success, and managing annual/quarterly goals. Leadership questions delve into motivating teams, handling underperforming employees, coaching examples, and fostering inter-departmental collaboration. Customer relationship questions explore building long-term client relationships, navigating difficult negotiations, managing customer complaints, and enhancing customer satisfaction/loyalty. Experience questions ask about major career successes and how they were achieved, learning from failures, generating revenue growth, and international sales experience with market-specific approaches. Market understanding and innovation cover tracking sales trends/technologies, their implementation, the role of digital transformation/CRM, and competitive analysis methods. Personal competencies focus on leadership style perception, motivations as a Sales Director, task prioritization under pressure, and managing market/company changes.
- What is your motivation for joining Meinke?
Mechanic
You'll talk with someone at the shop and answer questions about your work background, pay, tool ownership, and familiarity with shop equipment. There's also a remote interview happening with someone else on the phone. They might not show up for the second interview, but most people like to meet the person they spoke with on the phone.
- Tell me about your work experience.
- What are you looking to make?
- Do you come with your own tools?
Automotive Technician
The store manager had me do a working interview, which is normal for technicians. I did 3 oil changes on a Subaru, a Ford F-150, and a Volvo, which took about 2 hours. If you're applying, bring your tools, especially your OBD scanner, and wear black pants and a dark button-up shirt like the Meineke uniform. It was pretty chill even though they were busy. Everyone was professional and nice, including the lead tech and manager. The shop was clean. The manager said I'd get a call next week, hopefully with an offer!
- Tell me about your experience, looking at your resume.
- Are you willing to progress on your ASE certifications?
Marketing Coordinator
Had a phone interview with HR, then a phone interview with the VP of Marketing. After that, I had an in-person interview with the whole team, which was 5 people including the VP. They asked me about my salary multiple times and at the very end, how much notice I'd need to give my current employers. They said I'd hear back in a day or two about next steps, but I never did, even though I followed up right away with a thank you email and a handwritten note.
- Basic questions about my background and experience were asked.
- None of the questions seemed particularly difficult.
