First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Megafon.
System Administrator
The interview was pretty good. It had 2 stages. First, an interview with HR where we talked about general stuff, my experience, and the company's benefits. Second, a technical interview where we only discussed Linux, basic scripting, and SQL, which was really good.
- What's your Linux experience?
- How would you find out about a system's CPU, Memory, OS, etc.?
- What tools do you use for checking logs?
Frontend Developer
The interview process was quite unusual, not really touching upon typical frontend developer technical skills. They asked about things like agile methodology and my long-term career goals, which felt out of place. After the initial chat, I was given a test task using an outdated framework (Meteor.js), which involved cloning the bash.org comments section. Unfortunately, the company rejected my submission without providing any feedback or explanation.
- When choosing subordinates, do you favor intelligence or loyalty?
- How would you handle a situation where your team is approaching a deadline with insufficient time?
- Have you had prior experience with unit testing?
Finance Trainee
I applied online and the next day an HR lady called me. I was invited to the headquarters, which is very-very nice. The HR was very professional. She asked me standard questions about my academic experience since I have no working background. Then she asked questions like: What are the drawbacks of your character, and what you do to fix the situation, what was your biggest failure? Why MegaFon? What interesting fact I know about the company? I didn't get the offer because I had to start working immediately, which I couldn't at that moment.
- Can you tell me about the drawbacks of your character?
- How do you address the drawbacks of your character?
- Describe your biggest failure.
IT Audit Specialist
The whole process took about a month from application to offer. After submitting my CV, it was divided into three main parts. First, a remote skills test via email, which consisted of questions similar to CISA exams. A few days after I submitted the test, I received my score and an invitation for an interview. Second, I underwent a security clearance, which is standard for internal audit roles and took several weeks. Finally, I had a one-on-one interview with the hiring manager. During this interview, we reviewed my answers from the skills test, discussed my IT expertise and past experience, and then had a Q&A session. I had a positive impression of the interview and the people. The office space was quite large. Although I didn't have direct audit experience, they still extended an offer for this role. Interestingly, after this, they contacted me about other positions they thought might be a good fit for my profile.
- The CISA exam questions were the most challenging part, and I was instructed not to share the specifics.
