It was a pretty unprofessional experience. There were 2 rounds, a week apart. I was given a time and a Google Meet link and rearranged my schedule to make it work. I waited on the link for the entire hour for the interview, but they never showed up. I emailed them and didn't get a response for a while. I still attended the second round and met a nice guy who was interested in what I had to say, but he couldn't ask many questions because I hadn't done the first round yet. When they rescheduled the first interview, the interviewers acted like I was a major inconvenience and were not friendly at all. I did a live Python coding problem while screen sharing, and they said my solution was incorrect because one of them didn't read the prompt correctly. They asked me to do a SQL problem, even though I told them I had no prior experience with SQL and it wasn't mentioned for this role.

Had 8 separate calls and meetings for this role. Even though it was advertised as remote, I drove 2 hours to meet the team in NYC. Nailed all the phone screens, got every question right, according to the interviewers. Spent about 12 hours total interviewing. A few days later, they said I was technically strong but my communication style was poor, like they had to drag info out of me. Recruiters sending you to multiple teams to find a fit and making you interview with each one separately is insane and a waste of time.

So the interview process was pretty standard for a software engineer. It started with a screening call with my future manager where we talked about my background and career goals, and they told me more about the team. Then I had a technical pair programming challenge with a moderately easy algorithm question. After that, I explained my code to someone else. Next up was a half-day of interviews, most of which were easy, but the system design part was really tough, I almost gave up. Then there was another technical interview where I had to build a React app with a twist. Even though I didn't quite get the twist, I eventually got an offer. The whole thing took a few months because there were so many rounds.
