I found the job on job boards and applied on their site. The recruiter emailed the next day asking for benefits info and a summary of challenges from my past jobs, plus I had to fill out an application. Then the program manager set up a 30-min call with the hiring manager. That first interview was mostly technical questions with one non-technical one. A few days later was the second interview, which was harder because the questions were for a programmer role, not sysadmin. They even asked if I was a programmer, which showed they didn't read my resume. The interview ended quickly. Both interviewers were cold. The technical questions were like recall tests, not scenario-based. I didn't hear back, so I emailed the PM to say thanks for the interview. The PM said no feedback yet but they'd pass on my thanks. Then silence. It's fine to be silent when you don't get the job, but a quick note would be professional. Also, the job title and what they actually want seem mismatched; if they need a developer, they should say so.

Recruiter reached out after finding my resume online about a Java Developer role for client NIH. After some general questions, they scheduled an online screen test. The test had three questions total and took about 2 hours, consisting of two Java algorithm questions and one SQL question. I was told I did well, but then there was radio silence. Follow-ups with the recruiter yielded vague responses about waiting on NIH. I suspect either they found other candidates or the position wasn't a priority. It was frustrating not getting any feedback.

A recruiter got in touch via LinkedIn after I applied online. About a week after applying, I had a video call with the Principal Investigator and a research nurse. The next week, they asked for my references and then sent an offer.
