First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Medical Group Management Association (MGMA).
Director
Got an invite to an HR screen 1-2 days after I applied, which was efficient, but it was a truly bizarre HR screening call. The person I talked to clearly had no background in the subject matter - they put words in my mouth about my skills & expertise that I did not say and were not an accurate reflection of me. They also said that the salary range isn't accurate and they don't pay above the midpoint. They said they'd get back to me in a couple days but I never heard anything again, even after following up. Finally got a stock rejection after 4 or 5 weeks.
- What is motivating your job search?
Marketing Specialist
This was the most pain-free interview process I’ve been through! I first had a video call with the department director to get a better understanding of the role, company, culture, etc., and then had a virtual interview with the management team just a few days later. I was given a timeline for each stage of the process and kept in the loop the whole way through. When I received an offer, I got a phone call directly from HR and was given all pertinent details. For someone as organized and type-A as myself, it was a great experience.
- Did you lean more towards the data or creative side of marketing?
Marketing Coordinator
I had a phone interview that went well with MGMA recruiter. Then I was asked to come in for an initial interview. It seemed to go great, and I was told I would know more the next week. However, I didn't hear back for almost 2 weeks and had to call them to find out what was going on. I was assured I was a 'Top Candidate' and was switched to a new HR recruiter. For the next 3 weeks, I was told to be patient with their application process. In the end, I didn't get any information about my application for nearly a month. It took almost a month to get an email saying they went with a different candidate who was a better fit. I don't mind a 'no', but leaving a good candidate waiting like that was unprofessional and discouraging. They seemed like a good company, but they have a lot of growing to do.
- Can you tell me about your experience with medical promotions?
Project Assistant
The interview process was pretty straightforward. It started with a phone interview, followed by two in-person interviews. The first in-person interview was with the department's director and manager, where they asked about my experience, education, and knowledge of the healthcare industry. There was also a short Excel troubleshooting test. The second in-person interview was with the manager and an HR recruiter. This interview focused more on my experience and how I would fit into the organization. Everyone I met was very nice, they answered all my questions, encouraged me to ask questions, and were prompt with all communication.
