Product Manager
HR reached out on LinkedIn and initiated the process. Then I had interviews with the VP of Product, VP of Design, and several PMs and Devs on the team. The final interview was with the CPO. All the interviews felt really conversational and collaborative, and it seemed like being willing to collaborate and be fearless was key.
- Can you explain how you manage and protect your product roadmap?
- What's your approach to defending decisions made to senior leadership (SLT)?
Product Manager
The interview process spanned over three months, which I chose to extend due to my current job obligations. It began with a preliminary call with the recruiter, followed by a phone screen with the Hiring Manager. After that, I had videoconference interviews with senior staff from operations and engineering. Finally, I was invited onsite for a full day of interviews, running from 10 am to 5 pm. This onsite portion included interviews with senior staff in Product, Operations, and Engineering, culminating in a presentation with a Q&A session. Even though the process felt long, I really enjoyed talking with the team and learning about the company and the product management culture at Media Math. The interviewers were friendly and made me feel at ease. Most of the interviews were design or case-based, and some even touched upon current challenges MediaMath is facing. Each interview focused on a specific competency like Analytics, Technical Skills, or Strategic Thinking, and the interviewers often probed deeper to test my thought process and assess cultural fit. The whole day gave me a chance to meet a diverse group of people and get a real feel for being a PM at MediaMath. The team members were great conversationalists, very friendly, and intensely focused on culture. Everyone I met was open about the company's current challenges and their desire to improve the culture.
- In scenarios involving strategic decision making, priority setting, team dynamics, and resource contention, how would you clarify roles and reporting responsibilities?
- How would you ensure the production roadmap is clearly aligned with strategic business priorities and well communicated to all levels of the company?
Product Manager
I had a really good time interviewing with MediaMath. It started with a recruiter reaching out and a quick phone screen. Then I had a phone interview with the hiring manager. The last step was an in-person interview at their main office. This on-site involved five separate interviews with different team members, including product managers and engineers. After that, I had a short wrap-up chat with the recruiter, got a tour of their office, and was offered a snack and drink before heading out. Everyone I met was super friendly and seemed genuinely interested in my background and what I'm looking for. They asked some tough questions but also spent time getting to know me. It was honestly one of the best interview experiences I've had.
- Can you share an instance where you had a disagreement with the engineering team and describe how you handled it?
