Technical Case Coding

The interview process involves 3 rounds. They'll be asking about advanced SQL, root cause analysis, and case studies. Some panels might not focus too heavily on SQL, but it's important to be well-prepared for root cause analysis.

  • Given your resume's focus on Machine Learning and Deep Learning projects, can you explain your interest in Product Management rather than Software Development or Data Science roles?

Behavioral Technical Coding System Design Case Presentation Group

The interview process had 3 rounds. Round 1 was 50 minutes and covered work experiences, motivation for PM and Media.net, a guesstimate question about mobile data usage, explaining technical concepts like API and CDN to a 5-year-old, favorite products with a dashboard design for LinkedIn stakeholders, a Google PM scenario about reduced traffic, and a Swiggy PM product design challenge for the 'what to eat' problem. Round 2 was 70 minutes, where they discussed my first interview feedback and self-assessment. Questions included introducing myself with achievements, motivation for PM without a tech background, why Media.net, understanding Media.net's business compared to Facebook/Google, a case study to improve YouTube Shorts focusing on growth and engagement with mockups and success metrics, explaining ad retargeting and data sharing between Amazon and Facebook, and a deep dive into cache vs cookies. Round 3 was 90 minutes, starting with introductions and questions for the interviewer. Then, I discussed my internship experience and making money from gaming companies. I also had a scenario as a 15-year YouTube PM explaining the skip ad button rationale, discussing ad strategies and metrics including a North Star Metric. Another scenario involved starting a music streaming app startup with an engineer, focusing on product requirements given a better compression algorithm. Finally, a scenario about a recommendation engine issue with 5000 users getting the same song recommendations, and how to address it with the engineer.

Behavioral Technical Coding Case

The interviewer was punctual and cordial, though perhaps a bit disengaged, possibly fitting the interview between other commitments. We talked about my previous product work, my motivations for seeking new roles, and my interest in the Adtech sector. The interview included three specific questions: a guesstimate concerning CPC for a performance ad on Swiggy/Zomato (allowing a choice between Google Search or YouTube placement), a root cause analysis regarding a decrease in average YouTube watch time and how to investigate it, and a logic puzzle involving 25 horses and determining the top 3 performers within 5-horse races.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • If a performance ad needs to be placed on Swiggy/Zomato, what would you suggest for the CPC, considering the ad could be on Google Search or YouTube?
  • If the average time spent on YouTube has declined, what steps would you take to identify the reasons and analyze the situation?
  • Given 25 horses and races that accommodate 5 horses at a time, how many races are necessary to find the top 3 horses?
