It was pretty simple. You'll just talk about your research experience and strengths. Be ready to share some experiences where you’ve shown skills like being a team player or a leader. It felt more like a casual conversation. And do your research on the lab too that you’re trying to work in.

The interview process was good overall. Instead of the usual in-person interview, it was a conference call because of covid-19. There were three interviewers: one professor, one scientist, and someone from another department. They were all really nice, polite, and respectful. They explained everything about the lab work and answered all my questions. The only reason I wouldn't rate it as 'good' is the long time it takes to even get an interview. It took me about 5-6 months from applying to getting an offer. They took at least a month just to call me for a phone interview. Maybe this was just a unique situation, but a more qualified person might not want to wait that long. That was my experience at MD Anderson.

I applied online. About 10 days later, HR called to set up an interview for the very next day. The first chat was quick and pretty casual with the HR person. Then, I met with the lab staff in a different building for the second interview. They asked for my references via email after that. Later, they did phone calls with my references. I got the job offer over the phone about 3 weeks after the interviews. They also do a background check after the offer.
