McMaster-Carr Warehouse / Fulfillment Associate Interview Questions

Got a text from a McM recruiter about a warehouse position, seemed vague so I searched online. They emailed details, still vague. Had a phone call where we talked about the company and benefits, mostly I talked about my past jobs and what I wanted. Asked about career path and management opportunities, they said yes but I was skeptical. Went to the warehouse for an in-person interview. Took 30 mins to fill out an application and 30 mins for the interview. The interview was more about my past experience and what I wanted. They said I'd be a good fit. Again asked what I was looking for and about growth, they said it was more lateral than a rigid structure. A supervisor gave me a tour, explaining efficiency and accuracy are key, and talked about different roles. Few questions to see if I'd like repetitive work. Waited for the next interviewer. This one asked more about my past roles, challenges, co-workers, and what supervisors thought. Growth was mentioned as lateral again. Waited for the next interviewer, who was the most personable. Asked about my resume, had a list of business and personal questions (we liked basketball). I was tired and didn't have many questions left. This interview lasted 45 mins. Total time at the warehouse was over 2.5 hours. They said I'd hear back in a few days. It felt like they were trying to make the job sound better than it is. They hire educated people and pay well, saying it's for dealing with 'curveballs'. I'd have to think about an offer. Got a rejection letter later.

Someone texted me first, then I had a phone interview. After that, I got invited for an onsite interview. It was with three people and it lasted a long time. The people were very friendly. I think my desire for career growth really limited my chances here so my suggestion would be to hide that somehow. The good thing is you get to practice interviewing a few times. I don't expect an offer because I didn't take it too seriously. The benefits are amazing. Once you get the tour, you'll get a feeling of what it's like. They don't hide what it's like. If you don't get an offer, it's a blessing in disguise. You will see once you go there but I recommend going to see. It could be a fit for some but I would think it's not a fit for most. If you just want a job, then definitely go.

So, to get access to this site's services, I had to review something. But yeah, I did interview at McM, and it seemed like a really cool place. They have interesting benefits and it looks like a good place to work. I passed on the job, though, because I'm not keen on running around all day looking for nuts and bolts. That said, it seems like they pay you well for it!
