First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at McLennan Community College.
Records Technician
I talked with a group of about 5 people. They asked me maybe 10 to 12 questions total. The whole thing was about 30 minutes. After that, I had to do an "in basket" thing where I worked with an Excel file and handled an email to a student.
- Can you explain how you would integrate MCC's core values into your daily work?
Division Chair
Great communication from the HR department, they were extremely helpful. I had a phone interview, and then a comprehensive on-campus interview that included administrators after a committee meeting. The people there were wonderful. I've never been to a friendlier campus, and everyone was incredibly gracious. I wish MCC the best moving forward; I really enjoyed the family feel of the campus. You can tell they genuinely care about each other. The students, staff, faculty, and administrators all showed such high character and grace.
- Can you describe your leadership style?
Professor
I went to their campus for an interview, but just so you know, they might call you first if you're not local. For me, it was just two interviewers. It was a pretty straightforward process, nothing tricky. After we were done, they showed me around the building where I'd be teaching. I got the job offer about a week later, and the administrative and HR staff reached out. I started teaching the next month.
- They wanted to know about my teaching experience in the U.S.
- They were interested in hearing about my teaching experience abroad.
Instructor
It was a wonderful experience, the staff were very kind and showed me around before the interview. The process was pretty straightforward and they were clear on all my questions. I had two supervisors in the interview.
- What is your unique selling proposition compared to other candidates?
