The interview was pretty straightforward. They wanted to make sure I knew the work schedule if I got the job and what the pay would be. They also explained the process for getting a job offer and what to expect at the offer meeting.

The interview started with a phone call that lasted about 20-30 minutes. They asked me about where I worked before, how much money I made, and some other stuff. I thought some of those questions, like about past salaries, were a bit weird since, you know, I'm applying because I want the job, not just for the pay. Honestly, I might have even applied for this job a few months back and totally forgot about it.

A recruiter reached out via email about a reliability engineer opening, saying I seemed like a good fit. I replied that it looked interesting and completed the quick online application, which took about 10 minutes. I got a confirmation email right away. The recruiter called me back late the next week for an initial chat, covering general company info and job specifics. The recruiter mentioned a 2-hour proctored assessment. After thinking about it over the weekend, I emailed early in the week to ask for a quick chat with the hiring manager before the tests. The next day, I was told they were moving on with other candidates.

I had a phone chat with the recruiter about the company. Then there was an in-person personality and critical thinking test. After that, I interviewed with the hiring manager about the company and myself. Next, I spoke with their boss, the West Coast manager, again about the company and my background. If that went well, I would have done a ride-a-long. The final step, if successful, was a trip to Tennessee to interview with key managers/executives. The recruiter was very helpful throughout. However, after the ride-a-long, I learned they hired an internal candidate, even though I was a top choice. I hope to get another chance someday. It seems like a great company!
