Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at McKay-Dee Hospital Center.
PSR Specialist
It was a quick, laid-back, and easy interview. There were about 4 people in the room, and each asked me a question. It wasn't intimidating. The interview was on Friday, and I got an offer the following Monday. It was a good experience for me.
- Tell me about a time you had to handle a difficult patient.
Psych Tech
The first step was a video submission where I answered a few questions. Then, I had an in-person interview with the unit manager and the unit charge nurse. The questions were mostly situational, like 'tell me about a time when...'.
- Can you share an instance where you had a disagreement with a colleague and how you handled it?
Clinical Social Worker
It was a behavioral interview with four people who took turns asking questions. They were direct and seemed a bit stressed. No questions about my personal goals or background, only situational ones. After that, I had a background check and was given an offer.
- Can you describe a challenging situation you experienced with a coworker and explain how you managed it?
Surgical Tech
I was interviewed by the OR manager and nurse educator. It was a pretty relaxed setting. They asked me typical questions like my strengths and weaknesses, and also asked some situational questions about what I would do in certain scenarios.
- What are your strengths?
- What are your weaknesses?
- What would you do if this situation arose?
