First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at McGuyer Homebuilders.
Purchasing Analyst
It was a 2-stage process. The first was a quick phone screen, and the second was an in-person meeting with some managers, including the hiring manager. The managers were all pretty friendly.
- What do you know about our company?
Sales Counselor
The interview process was pretty much average. Not hard at all. Very laid back and the sales manager was nice. The PM was super respectful &seemed to be really interested in what I had to say and my experience prior to MHI.
- Have you worked in sales before?
- Do you have any issues with following protocol?
Sales Consultant
I got an email with 5-8 questions that I had to answer in writing. It took me about 30-45 minutes to complete. Then I was asked to do the Burke Assessment, including all its parts. This took a little over an hour. The test is designed to be frustrating and stressful. The Burke Assessment asked for my age, which they tried to get in a sneaky way by asking for my college graduation date. I wish they had mentioned that age was a big part of their hiring criteria beforehand, because I spent 2 hours on it only to find out. That's not cool.
- What year did you graduate from college?
Sales Counselor
Got a call to schedule a 1:1 interview at the main office. They liked me after that so we immediately had a group interview, then they offered me the job. It went great and I was happy with how it all went. Then I met the Area President and they welcomed me.
- Tell me about past sales experiences where you were successful selling high-end products.
- How would you go about selling a product, emphasizing its superiority over competitors?
