I applied online and then a recruiter reached out, saying my background seemed like a great fit. After that, I had a Zoom interview with three team members. It was supposed to be an hour long. During the interview, they unexpectedly asked me to read a business case and then create a lean project plan and present it in just 15 minutes. Since reading the case itself took about 5 minutes, I felt like 10 minutes wasn't enough time to really understand it and prepare a good presentation. I get that they might just want a quick overview, but the surprise element and tight deadline didn't feel like a real test of my abilities. Also, the role they described seemed more like a program manager than a project manager.

The interview process for this role was pretty intense. I had 4 phone interviews. First, I talked to the main project manager. Then I spoke with two other project managers, and finally a technical lead. The technical lead wanted to check if I understood their methodology enough to work with the dev team. The other two project managers asked more about my style. The main PM was interested in how I'd fit into the team and handle reporting. The last interview was like a conference, where a bunch of people asked me questions like "Given this situation, what would you do?"

The interview process was pretty straightforward. First, I had an interview with the PMO Director where I had to do an assessment during the call. The assessment involved reading a prompt and quickly creating a project management plan. Then, I shared my screen to go over the plan with them. The next interview was a panel interview with three program managers and the PMO Director. Finally, I spoke with the program manager who wanted me on her team, and I accepted the offer.
