After submitting my application and portfolio, I was contacted to schedule an in-person interview. It's best to respond quickly to recruiters to show initiative and confidence. The interview at their office went smoothly. We talked, I presented some of my work, and they asked questions. Ultimately, your work should speak for itself, and you should be knowledgeable about it.

I had an interview over video call. Three directors interviewed me. They wanted me to discuss my experience and some of the projects I've done. Most of the questions were general interview questions.

You sat in a room and did a test on basic front-end web dev stuff. You had to make a CSS sprite, open a link in a new window using JS, fade a color using jQuery, and make a two-column layout. You only had 20 mins, which goes fast. You could use the web, but they watched you through screen capture. Afterwards, you talked through your answers with some tech people. It took about an hour.

I had a phone call with the HR manager for the first round. Then I talked to the CFO for the second round, and they were really friendly. For the third round, I had a Skype call, even though I didn't live in NYC at the time. All in all, it was a great experience.
