Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at McCormick Ambulance.
Emergency Medical Technician
We were all in a room together with other applicants, filling out paperwork. Then, one by one, we were taken to a room for a quick 10-minute interview about basic info and expectations. I thought it was part-time, but it's full-time, so my interview was brief. After everyone had their interview, we did the physical fitness test.
- Regarding your schedule, what availability do you have?
EMT
The interview process kicks off with a map skills test and a written EMT skills assessment. If candidates don't pass the map test initially, they get another shot at it. Following that, there's a face-to-face interview, another EMT skills assessment, and a strength and agility test. Sometimes it takes more than one visit to complete everything before they decide to make an offer.
- What makes you want to become an EMT?
- What is your motivation for seeking employment with McCormick?
EMT Basic
It was a mellow, easy-going interview, not uptight or strict like most. The manager was super nice. Since I was in school at the time, he told me to come back later, saying the job would always be there. He mentioned the need for weekend availability, which I had due to weekend school.
- What is your motivation for seeking employment with this organization?
Dispatcher
I went in for the interview, and they asked me about my past experience and my future career goals. The interview wasn't very long; they mostly talked about the company and the specific duties of a dispatcher if I were to be hired.
