First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at McCombs School of Business.
Student Worker
I applied online via Hirealonghorn and heard back in about a week. Then, I scheduled an in-person interview with two administrators from the Working Professionals MBA Program. They asked me behavioral questions about my past experiences and skills listed on my resume. I got the decision within two days after the interview.
- Do you have any experience with Salesforce?
Student Associate
The hiring schedule is based on semesters, with applications and interviews happening at the end of each one. There are more positions available for the fall. You need to be a McCombs student to apply. You can find application details in email newsletters or on the school's job boards. The first interview is one-on-one, and the second is a panel interview. Make sure to ask good questions at the end of your interviews to show you're interested in this specific position.
- Can you give me a brief 30-second introduction about yourself?
- What would you consider your strengths and weaknesses?
- Could you share an example of your past leadership experience?
Assistant Professor
First, you need to submit a package with your CV, job market paper, and three recommendation letters by December 1st each year. If you make it to the second round, you'll be interviewed at the ASSA meetings in January. Those who pass that stage will be invited to give a campus seminar. Offers are typically extended in late January and February.
- Could you discuss your future research plans?
Student Worker
The interview was super easy and straightforward! Since it's for a student worker role, they mainly want to check if you're eager to learn on the job and can balance your school commitments with work!
- Can you tell me a bit about yourself and what you've done before?
