First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at McAlister's.
Customer Service Representative
The interview process involved typical questions. They asked me if I had any questions for them, about potential schedule conflicts, and if I wanted anything to drink. This part is just filler.
- What motivated your interest in working here?
Kitchen Team Member
I applied for the job and was able to schedule an interview right away. The interview itself was only 20 minutes long and consisted of straightforward questions about me and my availability for work. I got hired on the spot. It wasn't a difficult interview at all, and I was told to dress comfortably.
- What hours are you available to work, and can you tell me a little bit about yourself?
Food Server
Walking into McAlister's Deli, I was immediately hit with the good smell of food. The interview was a good mix of being professional but also friendly, which shows they care about doing a good job and being nice to people. During our chat, I talked about my skills and also felt like I connected with what the company is about and where they're going. It seemed like McAlister's wanted people who were as committed as they are to making sure customers have a great time eating here. When I left, I felt excited about the chance to join a team that cares about what each person does and also about succeeding together.
- What's your knowledge level of our menu offerings?
General Manager
They had shut down a location in Denver and fired everyone there, but were planning to reopen it soon. I met the franchise owner and his District Manager. I was really impressed. I talked with the owner for about 30 minutes. The conversation was natural, enjoyable, and focused. He answered my questions openly and had really smart observations. It was the best interview I've ever had. I really wanted to work for this owner because I felt I could learn a lot from him. But I never heard back from them. I was so disappointed. I honestly don't know what I did wrong.
