First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Mayo Clinic.
Software Engineer Intern
Had a video interview on zoom with a team member. We talked about what they're working on and if my past experience fit the role. The interview was with multiple people from the team who asked a lot of questions about my previous work.
- Can you tell me about your past experience and how it relates to this role?
Programmer Analyst
So, for the Programmer/Analyst job at Mayo Clinic, it's a few steps. First, there's a call or video chat to see if you've got the tech chops and experience. Then, you'll probably have some face-to-face or virtual interviews with the folks who'd be your boss and teammates. They'll want to check out how good you are with tech, how you solve problems, and if you'd fit in. You might get a coding challenge or a technical task to do, like coding, analyzing systems, or fixing stuff. They also ask questions about how you work with others, communicate, and adapt. The last part is usually chatting about the job itself, what's expected, and the perks, making sure you're on the same page with what Mayo Clinic is all about.
- Could you recount an instance where you encountered and resolved a difficult technical problem?
- Tell me about a time you debugged a complicated technical issue and how you fixed it.
- Describe a situation where you had to solve a complex technical problem. What was your approach?
Software Engineer
There was an online coding test. It had 3 questions and lasted for 1 hour. It wasn't focused on DS&A and didn't grade time complexity. The questions were pretty straightforward and I passed all the sample test cases with lots of time to spare. However, when it ran against the hidden test cases, I failed. Overall, it was pretty fair for a coding test, but just don't trust the sample test cases.
- Solve Leetcode easy style problems.
- Fix bugs in provided code.
