First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at MaxLinear.
ASIC Verification Engineer
For the selection process, they conducted a test with basic electronics concepts. In the test, they asked for Verilog snippets. There were 2 technical rounds covering concepts in Analog, digital electronics, Basic CMOS VLSI, filters, and C programming.
- Could you explain latch-up?
- What are filters?
- How do you implement a Nand gate using CMOS?
ASIC Verification Engineer
Had an initial online interview with the hiring manager. Then, after waiting for about a month, I had an on-site interview that lasted 4 hours. Since then, I haven't heard anything back. HR sends an email just once a month.
- Can you explain UVM?
- What are your thoughts on Verilog Verification?
- Describe your thinking process.
ASIC Design Engineer
After applying online, I had two technical phone interviews within the first week. Then, there was a quick HR chat over the phone. The final stage was a full-day, in-person interview at their office, meeting about 10 different people. It was actually pretty enjoyable, and they took me to lunch with two people who were quite nice. However, they kept asking technical questions throughout the day, so there wasn't much of a break. I was pretty worn out by the end, but the last person I spoke with was kind enough not to ask too many questions.
- Can you describe how the spectrum is affected by signal downsampling, and discuss its various forms?
- Could you explain the concepts of setup time, hold time, and clock jitter?
