First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Maximus Real Estate Partners.
Resident Services Coordinator
I had a phone interview with the Senior VP of Human Capital. She was very nice. The interview lasted about 10 minutes after I mentioned that I do not have a driver's license. In fact, I volunteered that information saying that in my current role (with another company) I have the opportunity to walk around to different buildings and complexes; I wonder if that was a mistake. She told me that the position required a valid driver's license. And we ended the call with me telling her to please have the job description updated on the various job boards to which it was posted. This includes Glassdoor because this website is where I applied to the job. Hopefully no one else will run into this problem.
- Could you please reiterate the job description?
- What are the day-to-day functions of the office?
Property Manager
Got a message on LinkedIn from a recruiter at Sutro's corporate office about an open position. After an initial phone chat, I went in person the same day for another interview. I met with the regional manager and a Partner I knew from managing a property in Campbell, CA. We talked for about 35 minutes about my experience with capital projects and my background in the field. Got an offer later that week and accepted it, with a start date about 10 days after new hire approval.
- Have you been involved in or helped with any renovations?
- Can you discuss your experience with capital projects?
- What's your background in this industry?
Director of Marketing
I interviewed with the partner who leads marketing and the partner who handles HR, in separate meetings. I didn't have a good feeling after the first interview and wasn't planning on continuing, but I was called in for a second interview, which I decided to do for practice. I learned from people in the industry that working with the company wasn't a great experience for them. Also, some online bios seemed more like social media posts than professional profiles. The discussion about media preferences, orientation, and childhood felt really strange.
- Tell me about your childhood aspirations.
- What are your top five weaknesses?
- If you had no limitations, what career path would you choose?
Accountant
I had a phone chat with an Accountant from the company. They mainly asked about my past work history and my understanding of the company. Afterwards, I sent a thank-you email to the HR person, since she was the only contact I had, to thank her for considering me and express my interest in moving forward, but I didn't hear back.
- Can you tell me what you know about our company?
- Please share details about your experience.
