The interview process was pretty standard. It started with a phone interview, then a task where I had to record myself answering some questions, and finally a Zoom call. The recorded message part was a bit strange, and I wasn't sure if my answers were actually being saved. They mentioned that if I was uncertain, I could submit the recording and also email my answers.

I saw the Auditor position on Indeed and applied. About two weeks later, a recruiter from Salt Lake City emailed me. We had a brief 10-minute phone call the next day about my general experience and any inventory experience I had. The recruiter wanted to set up a Teams meeting with the Lead Auditor in Provo, Utah. I wasn't too impressed with her. She asked me, 'What did you do today?' which caught me off guard, but I answered. We talked for about 5 minutes about small talk, not my skills or experience. She mentioned I was the first person interviewed from my area (Boise) and thought I'd do great, promising to reach out before Thanksgiving. Two weeks later, I got a rejection email. I don't see how she could assess my abilities from that one question. It felt like a waste of time, and Maverik should rethink their initial Teams interview process. That experience put me off Maverik completely, and I won't be doing business with them anymore.

So the interview process started with a phone screen with HR. After that, I got a link to do a recorded video interview, which was like a phone screen too. Now, I'm currently in the middle of virtual interviews with the accounting team.

The interview panel was made up entirely of cryptozoologists. They were interesting people, but they found Lacan (who I needed to reference extensively to explain the assignment's inchoate nature) difficult, and their French skills were mediocre at best. The hints of a hidden hierarchy were quite intriguing, though.
