First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Maverick Software Consulting.
Software Engineer
It was a pretty quick and simple process. I went through an onsite interview and then a round with the router team. Both interviews involved going over my resume and discussing my past work. The interviewers were nice and I learned a lot from them, though the internship pay wasn't great.
- Can you explain object-oriented programming and how it's applied?
Software Engineer Intern
First, I had a zoom call with Maverick, which was a technical and behavioral interview. They wanted to know about the pillars of OOP, recursion vs. iteration, and how to debug code conceptually. Then, I had a zoom call with Thomson Reuters Managers where they mostly asked about my experiences and technical expertise. It was important to be confident and show proficiency.
- Could you describe the four pillars of Object-Oriented Programming and elaborate on each one?
- Can you explain the difference between recursion and iteration?
- How would you approach debugging code from a conceptual standpoint?
Consultant
I talked with the manager, and it was a really informative conversation. I enjoyed it. He got back to me in a few days, and I responded soon after. The interview mainly covered basic questions about the role.
- Could you introduce yourself?
- Describe your leadership experience.
Software Tester
You need to apply on mavericksoftware.com and make sure your resume looks good. If a hiring manager reaches out, first thank them. Then, get ready for some behavioral questions. You might be asked about past projects, your interests in software, and whether you prefer development or testing. They'll also ask about the four main aspects of object-oriented programming, iteration versus recursion, and what an API is. That's pretty much the extent of it.
- Can you explain what recursion is?
