First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Mavens.
Technical Architect
The interview process was long and exhaustive, but really good! It gave a real understanding of the company culture and how they work, and they got to know how you work. First, there was a screening video call with the People Manager to discuss your background, professional expectations, and interests, and they told you a bit about Mavens, its culture, and values. Then, a second video call with a Solution Architect went deeper into your CV, knowledge, and experience, with questions asked. After that, you'd schedule a date to receive a practical exercise to be completed in 2 weeks maximum. Holidays were accommodated, with no problem starting the exercise after them. The practical exercise simulates a real project where you act as a client, receive requirements, and then design and develop the solution. It's not an easy exercise, requiring significant time, likely evenings and weekends for two weeks if working full-time. It was fun, challenging, and involved developing a real application. Upon completion, you present it to the 'client' and technical staff, which was a favorite part for its ability to prove your skills and work style, acting like a real test. Passing the exercise led to meeting Mavens employees. For me, living in Europe, I flew to London to meet employees and discuss the company, processes, and ask questions, which was very useful for clarifying any doubts. They emphasize ensuring you understand their culture, work style, and processes to decide if it's a good fit for you, while also assessing if you're a good fit for them. The final step was an interview with Joe Ferraro, CTO, discussing the company technically and your experience/expectations. If all steps were passed, an offer was extended. It was a good process, offering a chance to prove technical abilities with a real exercise and gaining a true feel for their work, culture, and values. The main drawback was the time taken, over 6 months in my case, longer than average, with occasional fluid communication. Overall, a very good experience, and I'm glad to have joined Mavens!
- What are your expectations for changing to Mavens?
Technical Architect
It was a good interview process that let me show off the skills I'd use daily. It was long, but I think it's a great way to find good developers and consultants for big projects. After the first call, I had two weeks for a mock project. There was a call at the start with someone playing the client to go over the needs. Then we sorted out the details over email. When the project was done, I had to present my solution to some people who asked about my design choices and the tech I used. I rated the difficulty as high because the project took me more than 40 hours, which was hard to fit in with my full-time job.
- Did you have any questions regarding Lightning Experience?
Technical Architect
The process involved numerous interviews, a technical test, and then more interviews. It's a well-established process to ensure you're a good fit for Mavens and that Mavens is a good fit for you. This latter part is really key and emphasized throughout. It's a long process but seems worthwhile. The technical test itself isn't too difficult and has multiple solutions.
