First, I had a quick 30-minute chat where I talked about my background and learned about the role. Then, there was a more in-depth 1-hour interview with tougher questions that were specific to the job.

Behavioral Presentation

The interview process was really nice, starting with the CPO who was kind, informative, and transparent. I always got prompt communication about next steps. Meeting with the founders, Rosie and Mitch, was also great. Rosie is personable and prioritizes skillset and vibe. Mitch, despite a previous review, gave a fun and thoughtful interview, going deep in an engaging way. The founders clearly prioritize cultural fit above all else. My advice is to be genuine and yourself, as they value that. It's an intense but refreshing interview style, different from standard questions, making you think. I believe Mattio is a great place to work with solid people who care about the company and culture. I declined the offer because I wanted to move away from agency work, but I'll always wonder 'what if'. I got the impression it would be a healthy, positive work environment with the usual agency nuances.

The team was friendly and seemed keen to hire me, but they appeared to be in a hurry and were slow to respond. After interviewing several times over 3 months, I was led to believe I would get an offer, but ultimately, I did not.
