First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Matteo.
Bioengineer
The interview process included a review and commentary on my CV. They asked questions about how I handle high stake situations, what kind of position I'd like to be in, how I plan my day, and about my experiences.
- How do you manage high-stakes scenarios?
Software Engineer
There were two interviews in total. The first one was all about my personality and personal attributes. They asked me about things like my hobbies and what kind of person I am. I got an offer right away after the interviews, but it was never put in writing. In the end, they didn't end up contacting me again.
- Can you tell me about your top three strengths?
Inventory Position
This was probably my worst interview experience, and I'm partly to blame for applying without reading the negative reviews. I got an interview request and decided to go for the practice. Upon arrival, I had to take a basic 6th-grade math test, which was a turn-off given my bachelor's degree in textile and apparel management. I almost left. After a long wait, I met with someone from HR. I don't recall the specific interview questions, but they felt strange, and the interviewer kept repeating my answers as if I wasn't clear. They said I was asking for too much money and would likely go with someone else, which is a huge loss for them given my inventory and apparel industry experience. Since it's a small company and money is an issue, they should have discussed pay upfront. I got an email a week later for another interview, but I had already decided against it. It was a waste of time, and I didn't learn anything. Two weeks later, I got a great opportunity elsewhere. Based on the reviews, I'm glad it worked out this way. My advice is to avoid this place.
- I don't remember any specific questions, but none of them seemed particularly difficult.
Sales Representative
I went back and forth over Skype with the Company's Sales Manager/Director, HR Generalist, Human Resources Director and CEO for 3 weeks. I was ready for each interview but the whole process was a waste of time and a farce. The location I was interviewing for doesn't make enough sales to cover their rent. They are indecisive, indifferent and I could see why people just come and go there. I recommend this company get it's act together because that's the only way a business can move forward.
- Could you explain your short tenures at previous jobs?
