Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Mattel.
Software Engineer
The process was pretty simple and ran smoothly. They gave me a few choices for when to do the interview, which was nice for my schedule. The first interview was online using Teams. I got plenty of chances to ask my own questions.
- Can you walk me through your background and career journey?
Product Development Engineer
So after an initial chat with HR, there were 3 main interview rounds. Mostly, they wanted to hear about my past work. They asked stuff about GD&T drawing, how I do root cause analysis, and interpreting lots of statistical data.
- Can you describe your background and previous work experiences?
- Could you elaborate on your exposure to GD&T drawings?
- What's your approach to root cause analysis?
Software Engineer Intern
My professor recommended I apply for this internship. I applied online and included his name in my cover letter. I got an interview call with the manager I'd be working under. About an hour after that, I got a job offer over the phone.
- Tell me about yourself and your resume.
- Tell me about a time when you changed a process.
- Describe the process you changed.
