Talent Resources Generalist
Jennifer contacted me for a 45-minute phone screen, which actually went for 55 minutes. At the end of the call, she mentioned she'd be interviewing others and would reply by the following week. It's now mid-week with no response, so I followed up. She said she'd contact candidates by the end of Friday to schedule second rounds. I didn't hear anything by the end of Friday. It's been almost two weeks since my interview, and I haven't even received a rejection email. I was completely ghosted. My time was wasted, and I don't recommend this company. They need better talent acquisition processes.
- Can you share your experience in talent acquisition?
Safety Specialist
I met with someone who seemed to be the team lead. They asked me questions about who I am, my experience, and why I was interested in the position. The person was friendly and pleasant, but didn't offer much additional information or engage in extended conversation.
- What led you to begin your career in Safety?
Private Equity Associate
I got an email reaching out about a full-time PE role, and they invited me to their LA office for an interview. When I arrived, they gave me a tour of the place. Everyone was really friendly. Three people interviewed me. It felt pretty informal and engaging. We chatted about my achievements, leadership, goals, and how I handle my time, among other things. It went a bit over an hour, though they expected it to be shorter. I got a great offer the following week.
- Can you share an instance where you experienced failure?
- What accomplishments have you made as a leader in your academic career?
- Describe your ability to perform under stressful conditions.
Superintendent
I got contacted by Neil Matt about three months after applying. He told me about current work and a new project that would be a good fit. I met Neil and his Father Paul at their main office. The interview went well, I felt comfortable and got a great overview of the company. However, Neil asked a curve ball question about a night job, 50 miles from my house. I explained that as a newlywed, I wouldn't see my wife on nights and at 53, I'm not good with nights. He said no problem, and the interview continued for almost 2 hours. When I left, they said I'd hear from them. The next day, I got a call saying they were passing on me. Shocked, I called back and asked for a reason. Neil said he's looking for a can-do team player that will do anything he asks. I thanked him for his honesty. He was likely testing me, but passing on a Sr Superintendent with 33 years of experience in OSHPD, High Rise, Bio tech, etc., over a test in this market is surprising. I hope they can find a young Sr Superintendent right out of college for that night job.
- How do you feel about working nights on a current job opportunity?
- Would you be a can-do team player willing to do anything asked of you?
