The interview process is pretty simple. The hardest part is interviewing with the client, which can take several rounds depending on who you're interviewing for. Other than that, get ready for your technical and non-technical interviews.

So I was ghosted after they promised me a job at this big company in Phoenix. They said I was fast-tracked because the manager wanted me, but then we had to do more interviews to be fair to others. I had a second interview, and for the third, I got a homework assignment I worked on until 2:30 AM. The final interview got canceled the day before. First, the interviewers weren't free, then they said it was due to end-of-year budgets because the process took too long. The Sunday after that, I got an automated rejection email. I tried reaching out to my recruiter, but no response. It's been two weeks. I've moved on, but this was a terrible experience. At least I can use my presentation for my portfolio, just not for them!

I was contacted by the manager in charge of recruitment for the Northeast US. She was really professional and seemed passionate about her work. After we chatted and it seemed like I was a good fit for what Matlen Silver needs, I was sent a video interview with one of their sales team members. The goal was to give me more info about the role and also to screen me for the necessary skills, experience, results, and cultural fit. I have one more interview coming up with a VP for the Northeast. Hoping for the best, as this company looks like a great place to grow my career.

So, the recruiter from Matlen Silver ghosted me instead of giving me the bad news. There were some chats that felt like they were just leading me on. This is mainly about the feedback from the client company and how Matlen Silver, the staffing agency, handled things. The interview process itself felt pretty old school, and I doubt it's how this company usually interviews, which is why I'm not naming them. They asked C++ questions verbally, like a quiz show. They were pretty fair questions for anyone with C++ experience. The final on-site interview was similar, with talks about my past work. Getting updates from Matlen was really hit or miss. Most of the time, I had to chase them for information, sometimes pinging them twice. The 'updates' weren't really about whether I passed or failed, but more like 'They're doing budget stuff' or other corporate excuses for delays. I never knew who was responsible for the delays. In the end, I never got a final decision. So, I'd be careful using them because their communication was really unprofessional. If the job is a great fit, it's still worth applying, but be ready for some drama.
