Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Mathematica.
Research Assistant
The interviewers were great, but the whole thing took a really long time. It seems like a good company to work for, based on the interviews. But in the end, they made me wait for weeks and didn't even tell me they'd already picked someone else.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- What is it about Mathematica that interests you?
Research Assistant
The process was pretty simple. The HR person was really nice. It took them a few weeks to get back to me after I applied and after the initial phone interview. The phone interview itself was quite long, about an hour. They talk about Mathematica, ask you questions, and then you get to ask them questions. It felt like they were looking for people with a lot of programming experience.
- Can you provide detailed examples of programming techniques you've used?
- How have you manipulated data sets in your previous work?
- What algorithms have you employed in your projects?
Research Assistant
I was contacted about a phone interview. The interviewer missed the first scheduled call, so we had to reschedule. When we finally spoke, the interview was quite brief. I received an offer the very next day.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- What makes you interested in this role?
