I applied online with my CV and cover letter. Then a recruiter contacted me for a 30min interview, where they asked general questions about my background, coding experience, experience working in diverse teams, and presenting findings. After that, I completed a coding assessment. A few weeks later, I had a 2-hour interview with two different pairs of people. The first pair discussed my coding assessment, and the second pair asked more general questions. I got the offer about a week later. The whole process was quite smooth and fast.

The interview journey was pretty standard. It kicked off with a 20-minute chat with a recruiter. Following that, I had to do a coding test and then a technical interview with a couple of team members. The final stage was a three-hour marathon of interviews with different people from the team. There was about a week between each stage. My HR contact was really helpful and professional throughout.

The whole process from applying to hearing back took about 2 months, with roughly a month between each step, and then another 4.5 weeks after the final interview. The recruiter calls were fine, then there was a code sample, a take-home project, an interview to review the take-home, and then a final day with multiple group interviews. Honestly, everyone at Mathematica is really smart and passionate, and I liked how they asked about your approach to problems and your past experience instead of just throwing random stats questions. The biggest drawback, though, is the incredibly long wait times and how recruiters completely ghost you when you try to ask for updates.
