Applied online and after about a month, had a screening interview. Another month passed before HR reached out about moving to the next stage: a 4-hour interview that was split into several 15-minute "mini interviews" with different employees. The 4-hour part was tiring but not too hard, and the team was nice and made it easy to talk. I felt it went well, but it's been over a month with no word back. I sent a thank-you email right after and two follow-ups about the status, but no reply from HR. I guess I didn't get the job, but I thought they'd at least let me know, especially after a 4-hour interview. Reviews suggest Mathematica's hiring process is really long.

First, I had an initial phone call with a recruiter, then a call with the supervisor for the department. After that, I was told I moved on to interview with department heads and team members via Zoom, which was about a 3.5 hour process with multiple interviews. The recruiter let me know within 3 weeks that they were making an offer.

It took them 3 months to get back to me after I applied. Then it was over a month between the phone screen and the onsite. I eventually withdrew my application and found something else before they could make an offer. They are not truthful about timeframes, so expect to wait a really long time. I interviewed with 10 people, and half of them were via video call. 8 of the 9 women I spoke with were white and had the same title. The white women I spoke to all talked about diversity, but I didn't see it in my interviews or walking around the Chicago office. Only half of them introduced themselves before they started grilling me, and no one offered me water or a bathroom break, which was tough since it was 5 hours straight of interviews in a windowless room. Everyone seemed exhausted and grumpy. Keep in mind, everyone you interview with wants to know what you like to do so you can do that same task over and over on their projects. You won't have ownership of projects; you'll juggle 3-6 projects at once, each with a specific task. The program analyst role only offers advancement to program analyst II and III. You won't have a direct supervisor for your projects, but a lot of project leads. HR mentioned a mentor program, but people I asked said it's not really in place and no one got mentors when they started.
