The interview process at MasteryPrep was really unprofessional. I went through almost three rounds. It started with a video interview where I introduced myself, then a Zoom interview, and then a take-home assignment for the third round. After the first two interviews, I got the take-home task. I had some basic questions about it, but they were never answered. I worked really hard on the assignment, and then on the day of the third interview, about two hours before it was scheduled, I got a notification that it was cancelled because the position was already filled. Their hiring practices are pretty bad.

To get hired for this 6-week contract role, candidates need to pass 5 stages. First, you submit an intro video. Then, there's a 30-minute online interview where you present 2 lessons. After that, you'll have an hour-long group interview with the Director of Instruction and other candidates. Next, there are three days of online training (paid $10/hour, but only if you finish). Finally, there are three days of project-specific training (2 hours each day). You gotta get through all this, and agree to be available for a block of time (you don't know when you'll actually teach) before they'll offer you the job.

First was a video submission after getting the job details like hours and pay. Then, a teaching demo and interview. Next, another interview. The fourth round was training to hire. By the fourth round, it felt off. They were cagey about future payments, the first red flag. In the 3rd round, they said training is a big part of the job. I pushed for details about post-hire work life before finishing the training. Turns out they use a 'bait and switch' pay method. They offered one-third of the salary for all future training, which was less than minimum wage. Other red flags popped up, so I withdrew. While they have good Glassdoor reviews, be cautious.

After applying online, I was asked to submit a work sample. Once I submitted, I was told I made it to the next round, and was invited to a group Zoom interview. Unfortunately, the interviewer was late to the meeting. I tried emailing both them and my HR contact, worried I had the wrong link. Finally I tried exiting the Zoom call and rejoining. Once I did, it said the interviewer was present, but I was never let into the room. I followed up with my HR contact afterwards, asking what happened and if we needed to reschedule, and they said I was not let in because I was late. I provided them with screenshots showing that I was on time and the interviewer was late. Of course I never heard from them again.
