Behavioral Technical

I applied for this role about 2 months back and had 2 video interviews. The interviewers were friendly and the vibe was pretty relaxed, which was nice. They gave me a timeframe for when I'd hear back about a decision, but I had to follow up a couple of times to get an update when that time passed. I was eventually told they went with another candidate, but then I saw the same job posted the day before I got that news, so it felt a bit shady. My requests for feedback were also ignored. It seems like a decent place to work with good people, but the long hiring process that ended anticlimactically was a bummer.

Really disappointing experience, had four interviews over six weeks. Thought it was done after the third interview, they said a final decision would be made the next week. Then the talent person said they wanted a fourth interview. They changed the start date from mid-August to mid-September between the third and fourth interviews. The people interviewing were nice, though two interviews had to be rescheduled. Got good feedback on my experience and myself, but it ended with a really insulting generic email saying they weren't moving forward. Emailed the talent person I'd been talking to for eight weeks for confirmation and feedback and got no response. It's a bummer they couldn't even tell me directly or respond to a feedback request after all that.

So first I had this initial chat on the phone. Then I had a take home assignment to do. After that, I spoke with the Director of Engineering and a Senior Engineer about my approach to the take home assignment. They seemed to think my solution was good and acknowledged there wasn't one perfect way to solve it. But then... no offer. I asked for more feedback, and they basically said I did great but it just wasn't a fit. It's frustrating not knowing why because it felt like a waste of time. Maybe they aren't really hiring? I don't know. Google was much clearer.

The people were great and responsive, keeping me informed. Although they were a startup in 2019, they seem well-established and successful now.
