& Process

We had a chat about my experience, qualifications, how I work, and how I collaborate. The second half was more informal, just getting to know me – like hobbies and such. They stressed how important it is to have strict processes and keep good records, especially when working in the public sector.

After applying, I heard back about a month later. The first step was a 30-minute behavioral interview with the Director. Then, I waited about two weeks for the next round with some team members, which was pretty laid-back. We talked about my background and investment experience.

Applied with a custom cover letter and resume via their system and emailed HR. About two weeks later, onsite interview with hiring manager and Director of HR. Within a week, Director of HR called about salary range and benefits to gauge interest. Still interested, they set up a follow up interview with three colleagues. One director was unavailable for in-person, so a phone call was scheduled, with another in-person interview with the remaining two directors a few days later. Second and final interview was about a month after applying. Took about 3 weeks after that for hiring manager to inform me by phone that I had not been selected. Surprised there was no initial phone screening nor HR-only interview, but their onsite interview process was efficient. Almost felt rushed at times (both interviews limited to one hour), but they were respectful of everyone's time. Everyone I met with answered my questions openly and honestly. Everyone was kind and supportive, even in sharing feedback on my interviews.

I sent in my application for a role. After the hiring team got back to me, I had a phone chat, and then two onsite interviews that each lasted several hours. It seemed like they were really keen to keep talking after each one. But, after the third chat, I heard nothing back. I only found out months later, and not directly, that they had picked someone else. I liked the company a lot and enjoyed meeting the people. But, the silence after really felt disrespectful of all the time I put in. It was not professional. Even a basic rejection email would have made this a good experience.
